Odlewnicza 8 is the main seat of Warsaw's WORD with the widest exam hours. Here is what to expect on the yard and how to pass each task calmly.
The yard at Odlewnicza 8 serves the most licence categories in Warsaw, but the Category B tasks are identical to every other WORD centre. The difference is the surroundings: traffic inside the centre can be heavy, so observation matters from the very first metre.
1. Technical vehicle check
Before you sit behind the wheel, the examiner asks you to check items under the bonnet (oil, coolant) and the lights. Say out loud what you are doing — the examiner must see you can point at and assess every element.
2. Preparing to drive
Adjust the seat and mirrors, fasten the belt, check the handbrake. Examiners at Odlewnicza are strict — skipping the cockpit setup is noted immediately.
3. Stop and hill start
You stop on the slope and move off without rolling back — at most 20 cm is tolerated. Practise the clutch bite point until it is automatic; this task ends exams more often than people expect.
4. Curved drive forwards and backwards
Follow the marked curve without touching the lines. When reversing, turning around and looking through the rear window is mandatory — treat mirrors as a supplement only. This is the most common reason for a failed yard exam.
5. Parking in a marked bay
Perpendicular, angled or parallel — the examiner picks. Observation, using the indicator and the final position within the lines all count. Corrections are allowed if done safely.
Most common mistakes at Odlewnicza
- reversing on mirrors alone, without looking through the rear window
- rolling back more than 20 cm on the slope
- a forgotten indicator when moving off or parking
- driving too fast between tasks inside the centre
- skipping an element during the vehicle check
