WORD Bemowo manoeuvring area: every exam task step by step

2 October 2026 · 7 min read

Most failed exams at Bemowo end on the manoeuvring yard, before the car even reaches traffic. We walk through every task and the errors examiners stop the test for.

The yard at WORD Bemowo (Powstańców Śląskich 127A) is the first stage of the practical exam — and the trickiest. Stress, an unfamiliar car and time pressure make candidates fail tasks they performed perfectly during the course. Here is exactly what awaits you on the yard.

1. Vehicle check before driving

The examiner asks you to point out and check selected items: lights (dipped, main beam, indicators, hazards), fluid levels under the bonnet and the handbrake. You do this unhurried — skipping an element costs points right at the start. At Lauto you practise this sequence on the same car model you will take the exam in.

2. Preparing the driving position

Seat, headrest, mirrors, seatbelt — not a formality. The examiner watches whether you do this automatically before moving off. A forgotten mirror is a frequent start to a failed exam.

3. Hill start

On the slope you stop and move off without rolling back more than 20 cm. The key is the clutch bite point and calmly releasing the handbrake. In an automatic the task is easier, but smoothness and control are still assessed.

4. The curved reverse (łuk drogowy)

You drive along a marked curve forwards and backwards without touching the lines or stopping. When reversing you must look through the rear window — mirrors alone are not enough, and this is where most candidates at Bemowo fail.

5. Parking

Depending on the day: perpendicular, angled or parallel. Observation, smoothness and the final position within the lines are scored. A correction is allowed — better to fix the car calmly than leave it crooked.

What examiners stop the yard exam for

  • reversing without looking through the rear window
  • touching a boundary line with a wheel
  • rolling back more than 20 cm on the hill start
  • stalling twice in a single task
  • creating a hazard — e.g. reversing towards another car
